So You’ve Developed a Mobile App, Now What?

Swag Soft has helped many clients developed their apps and very often, when we ask them one pertinent question, they do not have a real answer. We ask them – “Now that you’ve developed an app, what are you going to do next with it?” Perhaps you are in the same situation, or you are considering building an app. Assuming you are just about to, let’s move forward in time. You’ve finished your app and you are ready to put it into action, but you aren’t sure what to do next. The following tips would be helpful.

1. SET YOUR GOALS.

Before you make your new app available to the public, take some time to think about your goals for the launch. Decide whether you will measure the success of the app by the number of downloads, your app store rating or some other metric. Once you know what you hope to achieve, you can develop launch strategies that will help you meet these objectives.

2. DEVELOP INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT FOR PROSPECTIVE USERS.

Even if you feel like your app is self-explanatory, it is still a good idea to develop some informational content to accompany it. Be sure your content covers the app’s basic functions, as well as answers to the questions users are most likely to have. This content should also include clear instructions that users can follow if they experience problems with the app or would like to provide feedback about it. To reach audience members who prefer video content to reading, consider recording a demo video as well.

3. DECIDE HOW YOU WILL SELL THE APP.

When it’s time to sell your app, you have plenty of options. Some of the most popular app stores include iTunes and Google Play, but other options are also available. It’s generally best to launch your app in only one store initially, so choose wisely. Once your app has been on the market for a while, you can begin selling it in multiple app stores.

4. DEVELOP A LANDING PAGE.

Before you actually release the app for purchase, create a dedicated launch page on your website that describes and promotes the app. All of your promotional materials should direct users to this page, and it should also link to the app’s sales page within your chosen app store.

5. PROMOTE YOUR APP.

Use a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote your app via as many channels as possible. Reach out to bloggers and other journalists who may be interested in publishing articles about the app, write about it on your social media networks and promote the app on your website. If your budget allows, invest in paid advertising for the app as well. Send invites out to your current customers via email, text or any other method of communication you commonly use to keep in contact with them.

6. PROVIDE PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR DOWNLOADS.

The easier it is for consumers to download your app, the more likely they will be to do so. Each time you promote your application, include a direct link to the app’s download/purchase page.

7. ENCOURAGE FEEDBACK.

One of the best ways to learn about your app’s strengths and weaknesses is through user feedback. Encourage consumers to review your app and monitor the information they provide so that you can make improvements.

One of the great advantages of working with Swag Soft is that we are also experienced marketers, so we would be able to help advice you on various aspects of promoting your app. Don’t make an app and end up with no users.
